Spotlight on the Heart & Stroke Foundation

For July 2025 “SC Gives Back” Jean day, our stagiaire, Liana, was proud to spotlight the Heart & Stroke Foundation, a leading Canadian organization dedicated to improving heart and brain health for people of all ages.

Advancing heart and brain health across Canada

The Heart & Stroke Foundation works to prevent disease, save lives, and support recovery for those affected by heart disease, stroke, and related conditions. Through research funding, public education, and advocacy, the foundation plays a critical role in improving health outcomes and shaping healthier communities across the country.

Its work spans the entire continuum of care, including prevention, treatment, and recovery. The foundation invests in groundbreaking research to better understand cardiovascular and brain conditions, improve treatments, and reduce risk factors. It also promotes public awareness around early warning signs, lifestyle changes, and access to timely care, which are factors that can significantly reduce long-term harm and save lives.

In addition, the foundation advocates for policies that create healthier environments, such as improved food standards, smoke-free spaces, and equitable access to healthcare. These efforts benefit not only individuals, but families and communities.

Supporting families through health challenges

Heart disease and stroke often have far-reaching consequences beyond the individual diagnosis. Families may face sudden changes to daily routines, caregiving responsibilities, financial pressures, and emotional strain. The Heart & Stroke Foundation recognizes this reality and works to support patients and families through education, resources, and community engagement.

As a family law firm, we see firsthand how deeply health challenges can affect family dynamics and long-term stability. Children, parents, and caregivers are all impacted when a loved one experiences a serious medical event. Supporting an organization that prioritizes both prevention and recovery aligns closely with our belief that strong families depend on health, stability, and access to support during life’s most difficult moments.
