Spotlight on the Miriam Foundation

For August 2025 “SC Gives Back” Jean day, our paralegal, Connie, chose to spotlight the Miriam Foundation, an organization dedicated to empowering people of all ages with neurodevelopmental disabilities and supporting their families.

Who the Miriam Foundation supports

The Miriam Foundation is the largest organization in Quebec focused on funding comprehensive and personalized services for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and intellectual disabilities.

For more than 50 years, the foundation has worked to raise funds that support a broad continuum of services, including:

  • Specialized intervention and clinical programs tailored to developmental needs;
  • Educational and training services for individuals, caregivers, and professionals;
  • Innovative resources and tools, like the MateriaTech resource library, which offers thousands of educational and therapeutic materials for development and inclusion;
  • Recreational and community activities designed to foster social connection, skill building, and inclusion.

The foundation also funds research and innovation that helps improve understanding, early intervention, and long-term support strategies for people with neurodevelopmental differences.

Supporting individuals and families across the lifespan

The Miriam Foundation’s mission emphasizes that every person, regardless of challenge, deserves the opportunity to develop their skills, build connections, and participate fully in their community. By providing support from early childhood through adulthood, the foundation helps create pathways for individuals to thrive throughout their lives.

Services and programs encompass clinical interventions like applied behaviour analysis and Early Start Denver Model, parental coaching, recreational initiatives, and inclusion-focused activities, all designed to support developmental growth, independence, and well-being.

Why this matters to us

As a family law firm, we understand how much the well-being of each family member contributes to a family’s overall stability and strength. Whether supporting parents through separation, helping guardians advocate for their children, or navigating transitions that affect entire households, we see first-hand how important access to high-quality support services can be in helping families overcome complex challenges.

The work of the Miriam Foundation resonates deeply with our values because it reinforces the idea that every person, especially children and adults facing developmental differences, deserves dignity, support, and opportunities to reach their full potential. Supporting organizations like the Miriam Foundation reflects our commitment to the health, inclusion, and flourishing of families in our community.
