Jeremy Laxer

Jeremy Laxer joined Spunt & Carin in 2023 as a student at the Barreau du Québec, and he will complete his articling in the spring of 2024. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the Université de Montréal in 2023. Prior to his legal education, Jeremy graduated with honours from Concordia University with a Bachelors in Sociology and Minor in Law and Society.

Before his legal endeavours, Jeremy worked as an advisor in the Strategic Planning at Federation CJA, one of Quebec’s leading philanthropies. During this time, Jeremy developed strong analytical and problem-solving skills working with social service agencies in Montreal to identify and respond to the needs of vulnerable populations around the city. He also cultivated strong interpersonal and negotiating skills as he negotiated funding agreements between Federation CJA and its social service agencies.

Outside of work and school, Jeremy enjoys volunteering. He volunteered at the West Island LGBTQ2+ centre for several years before joining the Board of Directors. Jeremy also served on the Board of Directors of Project 10, one of Montreal’s largest LGBTQ youth resources, and was elected Treasurer shortly thereafter.

Altogether, Jeremy’s personal and professional experiences have sensitized him to the intersectionality of social welfare, communal responsibility, and the law. Likewise, he brings this experience with him to his work, and is eager to begin his legal career at Spunt & Carin.
