Black History Month is celebrated in the month of February across North America since 1976. It is an opportunity for the Black community to celebrate and commemorate their ethnicity, representation, and history while inviting other cultures to recognize their presence and influence throughout known history.
Irrespective of your ethnic background, Black History Month is an invitation to experience and appreciate Black culture not only in the month of February but throughout the year. Supporting Black artisans and authors is one of many ways to celebrate Black History Month. Literature created by Black authors presents the opportunity to support Black writers while still educating yourself on Black history, both past and contemporary.
